As soon as he spots a target, he circles around a few times knowing that mammals are usually smarter than most fish. When hunting mammals, Night Furies tend to soar over grassy meadows or clearings looking for anything out in the open and vulnerable to an attack from above. Once his front half is submerged, he opens his mouth as wide as possible to grab as much fish as he can in one mouthful. The moment he see a silhouette of a fish or a school of fish decently near the surface, he plummets to the fish at astonishing swiftness and speed as he enters the water he arches back his neck just right so the force doesn't break his neck. he glides at around 130 feet (39.6 meters) above the water scanning for any sized fish as small and defenceless as sardines, to as big and dangerous as a great white shark. Night Furies prey mainly on fish but if there are no fish available, they will prey on medium to large mammals such as boars, sheep or yaks. Night Furies usually hunt and fly at night but sometimes they will wake up before sunset or they change their sleeping schedule according to their riders schedule as seen with Toothless and Hiccup.
